Inherited Quiet
Inherited Quiet I–II, 2025
ceramic, glaze
This series emerges from a personal intersection of nature and memory.
The forms resemble faces, yet resist becoming portraits.
They exist somewhere between human presence and landscape — eroded, hollowed, shaped by pressure rather than intention.
Growing up within the model of the nuclear family, where emotional restraint is inherited and vulnerability—especially for boys—is discouraged, leaves traces that are difficult to articulate. These works speak through material instead of narrative.
Clay becomes a witness.
Its cracks, cavities, and uneven surfaces reflect silence passed down through generations — emotions absorbed rather than expressed.
Nature here is not an escape, but a mirror.
It holds what could not be spoken, allowing it to surface slowly, without judgment.
Each piece functions as a fragment of an inner terrain — a quiet negotiation between endurance, absence, and becoming.
